Ditzy Chronicles Part 2: The Alarm Clock

It's 2:30 at night. I've been trying to fall asleep for over half an hour, now. Suddenly, I think I hear something. Something like...drums. Beating. Very LOUD. I ran through what this was all about. Either: (1) some wacko decided to play his drums really loud or (2) there are robbers outside our house with the punk rock radio station turned up all the way that I can hear it from my room. I guess that number one may not be it, but number two is probable. So here I am, laying in bed, freaking out that there are robbers outside our house (yes, punk-rock-listening robbers). I cup my ear, afraid, but I listen. And listen. And listen. And before I know it, I recognize a song. It wasn't a punk rock song. It was a country song. Not just ANY song. A Rascal Flatts song. Great. I recognized it b/c I've heard it so much on the radio in the car. I listen closely. The song ends. Now I think either one of two things is possible: (1) the robbers like country music or (2) I'm delusional. Soon, I hear another song, one that was the Blake Shelton version of "Home".* WAIT A SECOND!! First off, I'm not delusional, since I hadn't yet heard his version of it, and secondly...it was my alarm clock radio. Great.

The ditzy part? I don't know how to use my alarm clock. Sad, yes. My alarm clock is pretty old, and I still don't know how to work it out. Finally, I figured it out, so after I got out of the shower a few minutes ago...well, I turned on the radio and listened to some country. Yep! And, yes, I was able to successfully turn it off.

*I knew this b/c (1) my mom owns the original "Home" by Michael Buble on her iPod (she wanted me to buy the song for her for Christmas a couple yrs ago) and (2) I subscribe to Country Weekly. YES, it is a country music magazine. *sigh* What can I say? Give me books, the Internet, and country music and I'm set to go!

Me on iTunes!

Schweetness, no? I made an iMix on iTunes! If you click the link below, you can get a sneak peek at the rest of Music Mania 2008's songs. OK, well, iTunes for some weird reason didn't post all the songs I'm planning, so the iMix isn't totally accurate, but y'all can still check it out!

PLEASE READ BEFORE CLICKING THE LINK:
If do not have iTunes and you do NOT want to download iTunes to your computer, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK, because this leads you straight to iTunes, and if you don't want iTunes....well, sorry, but that's life. :-?

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewIMix?id=281539666

It'd also be really great if you could just quickly give it a star rating when you get there!!!

Lots of Love,
BB ;-)

[edit: Schweetness...I added it on to here! That is, if you didn't notice. ;-) )

Music Mania 2008: Day 3

Yesterday, I bought Julianne Hough's album off of iTunes (yes, she's the 2-time winner of DWTS...), and I'm having problems getting her single, "That Song In My Head" out of my head! Of course, that's a good thing, since I love the song, and I think y'all will, too. See for yourself!

That Song In My Head~Julianne Hough

You were hangin' your feet off the tailgate of Billy Don's ford
I grew up in this little bitty of town never seen you before
You were swayin' in the moonlight while the radio played
And I've,
I've had that song in my head all day, yeah

It was a sweet southern soulful thing that got me down deep
You caught me starin' at you but your smilin' back at me
Started slingin' that air guitar
Man, you sure can play
And I've had that song in my head all day

[Chorus]
I don't know who sings it
I keep searchin' the radio
I just wanna hear it
So I can watch that video
I got in my head of a blue-eyed boy
Dancin' in the bed of a two-tone ford
Oh lord it's love I just can't say
But I've,
I've had that song in my head all day, yeah

I said "How 'bout an autograph for your, your biggest fan?"
You wrote your name and your number in the palm of my hand
My heart and that big bass speaker were thumpin' away
And I've, I've had that song in my head all day

[Chorus]

Been in my head all day

Something I Noticed...

Song in My Head: "Lookin' for a Good Time" by Lady Antebellum (w00t!! They're awesome!)

Something I've noticed lately is that....most things (mind that I wrote the word "MOST") that I first think that I'm going to totally HATE I end up getting OBSESSED with. Weird, huh? So I decided to make a little list of those things. I put them in chronological order that I got obsessed with them. ;-)

1. Harry Potter: OK...so, I really did not like it at all. Honestly, the books came out when I was 4, and I started reading chapter books a couple years later, but...I think if my mom hadn't bought the books just because, I don't think I'd ever pick them up even when I was able to read them. (sorry if that didn't make any sense) Look at me now: I'm freakishly obsessed with HP; I've memorized the HP trio's full names (including middle name), as well as their b-days. *roll*

2. Country music: Yep, this is on the list, too. Well, when I was little, my mom would say how much she didn't like country, so I just agreed with her just because she was my mom. What I didn't know was that LeAnn Rimes' "How Do I Live" and Faith Hill's "Breathe" and "This Kiss" were country (and I loved those songs when I was little!). So...now, as you probably know, I love, love, love, love country music like crazy.

3. iPods and iTunes: Even in 6th and 7th grade, I had a little grudge against peoples with iPods. Until I got my first two years ago. And then...the rest is history! :-)

4. Shannon Hale (more specifically, PA): Well, I think it's just easier if you read this explanation (read Ch. 3) then me to retell the whole story. :-?

5. LRRH: Seriously, guys, I have a confession to make: I did not like LRRH at all when I first went on. Honest to goodness. I dunno why, I guess when I clicked the PA subforum, the whole thing seemed too whacked out to me (I know what y'all are gonna say: "speak for yourself!"), and all the siggie pics were all new to me. That was in Nov 2007. A few weeks later, I went on again, and I liked it better and better each time I went on (OK, well the Great Crash of 2008 prevented me from going on for a week or so) until I finally decided to join. Maybe I'm just a little obsessed with it.... ;-) Well, I've made terrific friends on the forum, and I feel so totally lucky to be an LRRHer, where geeks rule the world! muahahahahahah :-D

Mother's Day Visit

This year's Mother's Day was calm, quiet, and nice, just like always. I got a lot of reading done, and my mom really liked the present I got her.

Anyhow, we got a strange visit from a neighbor around midday. This neighbor didn't come to our front porch. In fact, this neighbor appeared at our backyard, and didn't even knock on the door. I thought you guys would like to see this friend of ours, so I took some pictures:

Usually, these fellas stick to the wall in our backyard and do push-ups, but this guy was a bit braver than the rest of his kinsmen. In the third and fourth pictures, you can even see that our neighbor brought along a friend: a little bird.

Hehe, something to enlighten y'all! Happy late Mother's day to all mothers out there (we wouldn't be sitting here today without you!), and have a great weekend!

Extremely Random Stuff

Song in My Head: "Down" by Miranda Lambert

So, since I've been away at HW-land for a week, I'm sort of in an interesting mood. So I'll list the stuff I'm thinking about, what I have to do, etc.

-I feel so loved. Not that I'm an ingrate or anything, but when I got my new e-mail, I didn't do anything with it unti today. I mean, I found how many people I keep in contact with daily (or often) and added their e-mails in my Contacts and I ended up with 33 people! And I can't forget the other friends and family I have in my life who don't have an e-mail or do have an e-mail but I don't know it. Plus, I got my first e-mail on that one from a real human. Not a computer bot like Goodreads, but a real human PERSON. Wow.
-I really adore the sayings, "wow and soil", "grr and foil" (animeactress' spin on our favorite interjection), "tree sap", and "Kartik the Daffodil". I also enjoy calling anime "Kartika".
-I'm also learning to do this little wavy finger thing that anime is very talented at.
-I'm a little stressed, but it's the good kind of stress, the one that keeps you busy. Eustress is the scientific name for it (learned that in Health). If you've heard "Nothin' Better to Do" by LeAnn Rimes, I know I always have something better to do. With that said, I shall commence with my handy-dandy to-do list:
1. Finish HW (OK, well, that's not really fun, but....it does keep me busy; I'm trying to be a bit optimistic here!)
2. Clean and organize old papers from this year and last (yes, I have last year's papers still; grr...)
3. Finish reading stuff for school (Kidnapped and Left to Tell)
4. Write, write, write (as well as re-write; I never though about re-writing until I started recently, and it's all because of Shannon Hale)! And about writing and stuff....so I know I promised you guys a plot summary of the novel that was inspired by LRRH-ers. Well, it'd be helpful if someone can tell me if I can password protect it (it would also be helpful with rants). If you're confused what I mean, then go to Ani Isilee's blog. I know she has WordPress, but is there any way that I can do that with Blogger?
5. Post my brand-new Ripsnorter Review layout. Yes, it will be slightly revised, and made better than ever. Believe me you.
6. Afterwards, revise and repost my PA review on RR. Then, post this on Goodreads. w00t! w00t! (first time I used the 2007 M-W Word of the Year, seriously)
7. Must....buy....songs....from....iTunes. Yep, I'm in that phase again where I start actually getting sick of all the songs on my iPod and must purchase more songs from iTunes. Then I listen to those songs 2 billion times and then I start re-liking the other songs on my iPod. (wow, I really sounds like a brat there; sorry! :( )
8. I'm setting up my Project Playlist! Yay! I've only friended two of y'all (Taiger, mimagirl), so if you have a Project Playlist account, e-mail me, PM me on LRRH (with your e-mail), or just comment so that I can buddy you or vice versa. More than likely, your playlist is put on private, so I can't search you.

Also, I've added a new feature: at the beginning of every post, I've added "Song in My Head", which sort of explains itself.

Well, since I do have a long to-do, I shall be off! Ta-ta for now!

Lots of Love,
bookbutterfly

iTunes Dilemma!

Okey-doke, first off, thanks to everyone who commented on my last post (coughcoughcough). Just kidding! Whatever. ;) I know everyone is, in fact, reading, since I got the wonderful, fantabulous (<--huh, first time I ever used that word, actually) StatCounter! Woohoo! Ahem. Anyways, as I type away, iTunes keeps popping up (goodness knows why). Maybe it's because I am installing the new version of it. I dunno. *shrug* OK, so my point is...I'm iTunes rich. I don't mean to sound snobby or anything (really, honest!), but people keep getting me iTunes gift cards. So last Easter, in my basket, I got from "The Bunny" a $50 gift card. LAST Easter. And I barely used half of it; to be exact, I have $32.18 left. And then in the summer of last year, my dad got some sort of giveaway thing from work, and it was a $15 iTunes gift card (ka-ching! And at that time, I don't think I had even used my $50 gift card, so then I had $65). So on *thinks in head* Saturday, yesterday, my mom's friend (who is super awesome!) came by and gave each of us gift cards to different places. Take a guess what she got me? $25 iTunes gift card. Yup. So, if I hadn't used that $17.82, I would have had $100 to spend at iTunes, but now I have "only" $82.18. Crazy. *grins* :D Anyhow, you're probably wondering what I used the $17.82 on. The 18 songs were: -Nothin' Better to Do (LeAnn Rimes; this was the single before Family came out)
-Famous in a Small Town (Miranda Lambert; the ending is fabulous)
-I Don't Want To (Ashley Monroe, whom I would add as one of my "Amazing Artists" links, but her official site is MySpace; that's the artist who I was talking about on LRRH in case you were wondering)
-Save the Best for Last (Vanessa Williams; the very first song I heard when I was baby, which was why I bought it)
-Oh Love (Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood; oh me gosh, EVERY COUNTRY FAN MUST BUY!!!!!!!!! especially if you like Carrie Underwood)
-But I Do Love You (LeAnn Rimes; you will see that I went into this LeAnn craze)
-Looking Through Your Eyes (LeAnn Rimes; the video is so cute, as this was a soundtrack for...*thinks* The Quest for Camelot; I lied, I thought, couldn't remember, then had to look it up)
-Soon (LeAnn Rimes; meh...)
-Tic Toc (LeAnn Rimes; used to like it, but...kind of strange now, but I still like LeAnn's new stuff)
-Til' We Ain't Strangers Any More (LeAnn Rimes and Bon Jovi; *gasp* OK, so Bon Jovi did a duet w/ the fantabulous--used it again!--Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland which was wonderful, and he did it with LeAnn Rimes and...can't describe! YOU MUST CHECK IT OUT. I didn't care for it at first...but now it's ringing in my head like crazy)
-I'm Only Me When I'm With You (Taylor Swift; TS craze coming...I play this song on the guitar and it is one of my faves from her!)
-Invisible (Taylor Swift; meh...it's ok, I love the beginning, but the song is a wee bit weak and kind of repetitive of her others songs on the album)
-A Perfectly Good Heart (Taylor Swift again; so I didn't really care for it when I bought it, I only bought these 3 b/c they were limited edition and TS, but...now I'm really liking this song and must look up the chords to play it!)
-Santa Baby (Kellie Pickler; this was during Christmastime, and Kellie is probably the best AI contestant that didn't win)
-Will You Dance With Me (Julianne Hough; the DWTS pro turned country singer is FANTASTIC. I can't wait until her first album comes out! I'v heard that people who hate country listen to this.)
-Before He Cheats (a piano instrumental to the Carrie Underwood song; this was for this project; I explain here)
-Down (Miranda Lambert; me luv this song, and it scares me how much it's like this one song I wrote--both tune and lyrics--and I didn't even know this song when I wrote mine!)
-Love Song (Sara Bareilles; wonderful! trying to figure out the piano notes myself though)

So my questions for my lovely blogging friends are this:
1. Do you like or have heard any of the songs I mentioned above?
2. What movie do you think I will review and are you excited for it?

Lots of Love and Randomness Forever,
